Kiraitu Accuses Governor Munya Of Hiring Hecklers During Campaign Tour

Senator Meru County, Kiraitu Murungi

Senator Kiraitu Murungi has accused Governor Peter Munya of paying rowdy youths to heckle him during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour in Igembe and Tigania.

Kiraitu accused the incumbent of ferrying youths to block him from campaigning in Igembe.

“If you want honey you cannot fear being stung by the bees, so I will not relent in my quest to campaign in Igembe,” the senator said.

Both leaders have been engaged in a war of words and have occasionally clashed in public.

Kiraitu who spoke on Sunday at his home said he will not be cowed by Munya’s threats.

The governor however denied the claims on Monday at Kinoru Stadium where he joined Muslims to celebrate Eid Mubarak.

“They told me to keep off the Presidential tour and I did exactly that. I even went to the gym instead. Kiraitu’s popularity was confirmed because everywhere they went with the President Uhuru attempts to endorse him hit a snug,” Munya said.

“Everywhere they want the residents shouted Munya, Munya Munya. Kiraitu should open up his eyes and see the people have rejected him instead of blaming me for everything.”

Munya who is seeking re-election accused Kiraitu of always blaming him for his woes.

“When his posters were pulled down in Meru, he blamed me, he is now at it again,” Munya said.

Also present during the president’s tour was Igembe South Mp, Mithika Linturi who weighed in on the matter saying: “We know Munya has been hiring goons… he should not bring his chaotic politics to the presidential function.”
