Kitutu Masaba MP Gisairo narrates brush with death in Kikuyu accident
Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo has narrated how he escaped serious injury after the vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a road accident in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, on Monday night.
Gisairo said the accident occurred as he travelled to Nairobi from his constituency when their vehicle was hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu D-Max pickup, registration number KDX 961T.
According to the MP, the pickup was registered to Isuzu Kenya and leased to the Ministry of Interior.
He said the impact caused the pickup to lose control and roll onto the road shoulder, while his driver managed to bring their vehicle to a safe stop despite losing its rear right tyre.
Gisairo said he and his colleagues then helped the two occupants of the pickup following the crash.
However, he alleged that the two occupants were later taken away in a government vehicle, registration number GKB 787J, belonging to the ministry of interior shortly after traffic police officers arrived at the scene.
The MP claimed the occupants were removed before traffic police could complete their procedures at the accident scene.
“I can confirm that I have reported the matter to the relevant agencies and they are cooperating in the investigations,” Gisairo said in a statement.
Gisairo said the Ministry of Interior had identified the two occupants of the vehicle, as well as other ministry officers who allegedly took them away from the scene.
He expressed confidence that the circumstances surrounding the accident and the subsequent removal of the occupants would be fully investigated.
The legislator said any officers found to have breached the law should face appropriate disciplinary action.
Gisairo said he and the other people travelling in his vehicle were safe, although they suffered muscle pulls after absorbing the impact.
“Most importantly, I would like to say that we are safe except for the muscle pulls of absorbing the impact,” he said.
