KRA Clarifies eTIMS and IFMIS Invoice Validation for Government Suppliers

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), in collaboration with the National Treasury, has clarified that the integration of the Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) and the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) accommodates valid invoices generated through both eTIMS and the Tax Invoice Management System (TIMS).
In a notice issued on Tuesday, KRA said the integration aims to enhance transparency and accountability in government transactions, streamline invoice validation and payment processes, and strengthen tax compliance through the automated verification of tax invoices.
The authority said all suppliers conducting business with government entities should note that both valid eTIMS and TIMS invoices are accommodated under the IFMIS-eTIMS integration.
However, the invoices must meet the applicable validation requirements before they can proceed through the IFMIS payment workflow.
“Accordingly, all suppliers conducting business with Government entities are hereby informed that both valid eTIMS and TIMS invoices are accommodated in the IFMIS–eTIMS integration and are subject to the applicable invoice validation requirements before proceeding through the IFMIS payment workflow,” KRA said.
KRA and the National Treasury said they remain committed to supporting government entities and suppliers in implementing and effectively using the integrated system.
The two institutions said the solution is intended to facilitate seamless invoice validation, improve tax compliance and support the timely processing of legitimate supplier payments.
