KRA, SDEAC Announce Auction of Vehicles, Office Equipment and Salvaged Items

The Kenya Revenue Authority has announced a nationwide public auction targeting a wide range of salvaged, obsolete, and unserviceable items across various regions of the country.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, March 31, KRA said the auction will be held on Thursday, April 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interested bidders will participate through an online platform, with a pre-bid briefing scheduled for April 9 to guide participants on the process.
Viewing of the items will run from Tuesday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 15, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at designated sites nationwide.
In Nairobi, items will be viewed at the Times Towers Basement and include photocopiers, paper shredders, televisions, generators, water dispensers, microwaves, steel cabinets, office chairs, safes, kitchen sinks, dispensers, hospital beds, movable partitions, and assorted laboratory equipment.
In the Central region, viewing will take place at the KRA warehouse in Nyeri, where items include batteries, toner cartridges, photocopier parts, electrical fittings, kettles, tea urns, timber, metal parts, and broken chairs.
In the Northern region, at the National Cereals and Produce Board yard in Embu, the auction includes office furniture such as tables, chairs, cabinets, trolleys, sanitizers, doors, tyres, batteries, server cages, toilets, basins, and cisterns.
In the Southern region, at KRA facilities in Soweto and Miritini estates in Mombasa, items on offer include scrap metal, elevator parts, dismantled components, telephone handsets, air conditioners, banners, steel structures, water dispensers, chairs, and assorted tyres.
In the North Rift region, viewing will be conducted at the Cereals Board godown in Eldoret, where items include cabinets, chairs, wooden furniture, window frames, safes, scrap metal, vehicle spare parts, tyres, photocopiers, and fans.
In Western Kenya, viewing will take place at the KRA warehouse within Victoria Business Park in Kisumu, with items including desks, office chairs, acoustic boards, batteries, weighing scales, cabinets, air conditioners, shredders, generators, and additional assets including a 135 KVA generator at Malaba One Border Station and two vehicles at Kisumu Lake Basin Mall.
In the South Rift region, items will be viewed at Timbercraft (East Africa) Ltd godowns in Nakuru and include MDF boards, aluminium and metallic cabinets, chairs, dispensers, heaters, doors, vehicle parts, batteries, cameras, and used tyres.
KRA emphasized that all items will be sold on an “as-is, where-is” basis, with no warranties provided. Interested bidders will be required to pay a refundable deposit of Sh5,000 to obtain a bidding number.
Successful bidders must pay the full purchase price within seven days of the auction and collect items within 14 days after payment. Failure to meet the deadlines may result in forfeiture of payments. The authority also noted that reserve prices will apply.
KRA has urged interested bidders to register and review full listings via its official website and that of Phillips International Auctioneers.
Meanwhile, the State Department for East African Community (SDEAC) has also announced a public auction of unserviceable stores and motor vehicles in collaboration with M/s Immediate Auctioneers.
The auction includes motor tyres priced between Sh1,600 and Sh44,000, as well as filing cabinets, coat hangers, executive chairs, visitor chairs, desks, TV stands, conference tables, and motor vehicle registration items.
Viewing will be conducted on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at designated locations, while the auction will take place on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the State Department of Roads Mechanical and Transport Division parking yard along Machakos Road, Industrial Area, Nairobi, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Interested bidders must pay a refundable deposit equivalent to 10% of the reserve price per motor vehicle to obtain a bidding number, payable at the State Department of East African Community cash office at Co-operative House, Nairobi.
Successful bidders will be required to pay 25% of the purchase price immediately and settle the balance within seven days. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of deposits and reallocation to the second-highest bidder.
All purchased items must be collected within 30 days, failing which storage charges of Sh1,000 per day will apply. The department noted that vehicles will be sold on an “as-is-where-is” basis and that import duty has not been paid, with all taxes and transfer costs to be borne by the buyer.
