Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana is a Spanish professional footballer renowned for his exceptional talent as a winger, playing for La Liga club Barcelona and the Spain national team.

Born on July 13, 2007, in Esplugues de Llobregat near Barcelona, he has quickly risen to prominence due to his flair, dribbling skills, chance creation, and ability to score long-distance curling goals.

Coming from a multicultural background with a Moroccan father and an Equatorial Guinean mother, Yamal proudly honors his heritage by incorporating flags of both countries on his customized boots.

His family has been instrumental in nurturing his passion for football from a young age, supporting his journey through local clubs and into Barcelona’s prestigious La Masia academy.

Siblings

Lamine has two younger siblings, a half-brother named Keyne Yamal, born in 2022, and a sister named Baraa Yamal.

Keyne has often been seen accompanying his brother during celebrations and matches, including heartwarming moments after Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, where the young boy joined Lamine on the pitch and in viral videos showcasing their close bond.

Baraa is less publicly visible.

Career

Yamal’s football journey began early, starting at local club CF La Torreta at age four before being scouted by Barcelona at six and joining La Masia in 2014, where he progressed faster than any peer in his generation.

Inspired by idols like Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Ronaldinho, he debuted for Barcelona’s senior team on April 29, 2023, against Real Betis at just 15 years, nine months, and 16 days old, becoming the youngest player in the club’s first-team history.

In the 2023-24 season, despite being registered with the B team, he became a regular under coach Xavi Hernández, setting records as the youngest to reach 50 first-team appearances and achieving milestones in goals and assists across La Liga, the Champions League, and Copa del Rey.

He scored his first La Liga goal wearing the number 10 shirt against Mallorca in August 2024 and contributed to Barcelona’s domestic treble, including La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de España titles.

Internationally, Yamal debuted for Spain’s senior team in 2023, becoming the youngest player and scorer for the nation at age 16, and played a pivotal role in their UEFA Euro 2024 victory, starting matches and breaking records as the youngest in the tournament.

By the 2025-26 season, he had taken on Barcelona’s iconic number 10 jersey, amassing over 117 appearances, 32 goals, and key contributions, though facing injury challenges like a recent groin issue that sidelined him for weeks.

Accolades

Yamal won the Young Player Award at UEFA Euro 2024, where Spain secured their fourth title, and holds records as the youngest player to appear and score in the European Championship, as well as the youngest in a final.

In 2024, he claimed the inaugural Golden Boy The Youngest trophy and the Kopa Trophy for the best player under 21, which he retained in 2025, becoming the first to win it twice and marking Barcelona’s fourth victory in the award’s history.

At the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards, Yamal received the Breakthrough of the Year award, recognizing his explosive impact.

He also secured the Globe Soccer Emerging Player award in 2024 and was included in the FIFPRO World XI, while finishing as runner-up for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

His club achievements include contributing to Barcelona’s La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de España triumphs.
