Learning Resumes In Laikipia As Vandalised Schools Are Repaired

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has confirmed that learning has fully resumed in Laikipia County after schools that were previously destroyed by armed criminals were repaired.

Kindiki said the rehabilitation works were carried out by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in collaboration with other security agencies deployed to restore peace in the North Rift region.

“Learning activities in Laikipia County have resumed and school infrastructure that had been vandalised by armed criminals has been restored by KDF, working with other security agencies,” he said.

He added that construction of new laboratories, classrooms and administration blocks is currently ongoing across public primary and secondary schools in Laikipia, to prepare for the rollout of the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) transition for STEM learners in January 2026.

The Deputy President also revealed that the government is building 12 modern fresh produce markets across the county — including one in Kinamba — to support small traders, especially women.

He further stated that more than Sh780 million has already been released under the Last Mile electricity programme to connect 4,000 additional homes to the national grid, with Sh200 million allocated specifically to Laikipia West Constituency.
