Leo Woodall, born on September 14, 1996, in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, has quickly emerged as one of Britain’s most promising actors.
Raised in Hammersmith, West London, the 28-year-old comes from a family steeped in the performing arts.
His father, Andrew Woodall, is a seasoned actor known for roles in Solo: A Star Wars Story and Grantchester, while his mother, Jane Mary Ashton, studied drama but chose not to pursue an acting career.
Leo’s stepfather, Alexander Morton, is another familiar face, recognized for his work in Monarch of the Glen and Luther.
Adding to his theatrical lineage, Leo is a descendant of Maxine Elliott, an American silent film star from the 1910s.
Siblings
Leo is the youngest of three siblings, with an older sister, Constance, and an older brother, Gabriel.
While his siblings have not followed the family tradition into the entertainment industry, Leo has occasionally offered glimpses into their close-knit bond.
In a rare 2017 Instagram post, he shared a photo with Gabriel and their mother, captioning it “Our wonder woman x,” a heartfelt nod to the support and love within his family. Career
Woodall’s acting journey began modestly in 2019 with a guest appearance on the BBC’s medical drama Holby City and a role in the short film Man Down.
His feature film debut came in 2021 with Cherry, a crime drama directed by the Russo brothers, where he starred alongside Tom Holland.

That same year, he appeared in Vampire Academy on Peacock, but it was his breakout role in 2022 that truly put him on the map.
Playing Jack, a charismatic Essex lad with a dark twist, in the second season of HBO’s The White Lotus, Woodall earned widespread recognition.
To nail the character’s accent, he studied videos of TV personality Joey Essex, showcasing his dedication to his craft.
Since then, his career has soared. In 2023, he joined the Amazon Prime series Citadel, another Russo brothers project, and in 2024, he took on his first leading role as Dexter Mayhew in Netflix’s adaptation of One Day.
Opposite Ambika Mod, Woodall’s portrayal of the charming yet flawed Dexter won over audiences and critics alike.
This year, he’s captivating viewers once more in Apple TV+’s thriller Prime Target and is set to appear as Roxster, Bridget Jones’s younger love interest, in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, hitting theaters this Valentine’s Day.
Accolades
In 2023, Leo was named a Screen International Star of Tomorrow, a prestigious honor recognizing his potential as a leading figure in the industry.
His performance in The White Lotus contributed to the ensemble’s win at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, a testament to his ability to shine among a star-studded cast.
