Liv Tyler is an American actress, producer, and former model renowned for her roles in major films and television series.
Born Liv Rundgren on July 1, 1977, in New York City, she is the daughter of model, singer, and former Playboy Playmate Bebe Buell and Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler, though she initially grew up believing musician Todd Rundgren was her biological father, as he signed her birth certificate and served as a father figure during her early years.
Liv discovered the truth about her paternity around age 10 or 11, leading to a complex but ultimately close family dynamic.
She has maintained strong relationships with both her biological and adoptive fathers, as well as her extended family in the rock music world.
Siblings
Liv has three half-siblings, all from her father Steven Tyler’s other relationships.
Her paternal half-sister Mia Tyler, born in 1978 to Steven and his first wife Cyrinda Foxe, is a model, author, and actress; the two sisters first met as children at an Aerosmith concert without initially knowing they were related, a moment they later described as surreal and mirror-like due to their strong resemblance.
Liv also has two younger half-siblings from Steven’s second marriage to Teresa Barrick: sister Chelsea Anna Tyler Foster, born in 1989, and brother Taj Monroe Tallarico, born in 1991.

She achieved global fame portraying the elf Arwen in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003), a role that showcased her ethereal presence and contributed to the films’ massive success.
Subsequent projects include The Incredible Hulk (2008) as Betty Ross, Super (2010), and Robot & Frank (2012).
On television, she earned acclaim for her performance in the HBO series The Leftovers (2014–2017).
