Maia Emily Bouchier is an English professional cricketer born on 5 December 1998 in Kensington, Greater London.
A right-handed batter who occasionally bowls right-arm medium pace, she represents Hampshire, Southern Brave in The Hundred, and Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League, having previously played for Middlesex, Southern Vipers, Auckland, and Western Australia.
She made her international debut for the England women’s team in September 2021 and has since featured across T20Is, ODIs, and Tests.
Her mother is of Iranian descent, and she was educated at the Dragon School, Rugby School, and Oxford Brookes University.
Siblings
Maia has two older brothers, G Bouchier and AK Bouchier.
She has spoken of growing up playing cricket, football, and rugby with her two older brothers and local friends in northwest London.
Her father, Anthony Bouchier, founded the Primrose Hill Cricket Club partly to give his sons better opportunities to play, and Maia tagged along from around the age of six, initially as the only girl.
Career
Bouchier made her county debut for Middlesex in 2014 and became a regular from 2016.
She topped the side’s run-scoring charts in the Championship in 2018 while contributing to a Twenty20 Cup title.
She joined Southern Vipers in 2018 and Hampshire in 2019, establishing herself as a consistent top-order batter.

A standout domestic season came in 2020 with the Vipers, where she finished as their second-highest run-scorer in the inaugural Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, which they won.
She has also featured successfully in The Hundred with Southern Brave and overseas in the WBBL with Melbourne Stars, as well as briefly with Western Australia and Auckland.
Internationally, she debuted in T20Is against New Zealand in September 2021.
Her ODI debut followed against Sri Lanka in September 2023, and she earned a Test cap against South Africa in December 2024.
Bouchier has scored hundreds in both ODI and Test cricket, including a century on Test debut, and has posted high scores such as 91 in T20Is.
She has been a regular in England squads across formats in recent years, contributing to series successes and major tournaments.
Accolades
Among her notable achievements, Bouchier was named ICC Women’s Player of the Month for March 2024 after a strong run of form that included significant contributions with the bat.
She scored a century on her Test debut against South Africa in 2024, becoming only the fourth English woman to achieve that milestone.
In ODIs she has registered centuries, including an unbeaten 100, and she has produced match-winning innings such as 95 against Sri Lanka.
Domestically she has won multiple titles with Southern Vipers, including the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and Charlotte Edwards Cup.
She also played a key role in Southern Brave’s successes in The Hundred.
She has also earned Player of the Match and series awards in international cricket, reflecting her growing impact as a top-order batter for England.
