Man, 34, beheaded in Bungoma murder incident

Police in Cheptais, Bungoma County, have launched investigations into the gruesome murder of a 34-year-old man whose body was found beside a road in Toroso Village.

The deceased, identified as Erastus Wechuli Wanyama, was discovered dead on Sunday near the Toroso-Tuikut murram road junction in Toroso Village, Sasur Sub-location, Sasur Location.

Police visited the scene and found the man lying in a pool of blood in a supine position. He had been beheaded.

Police later recovered his severed head about 800 metres from where the body was found. Dogs were reportedly scavenging on the head when officers arrived.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators as they began efforts to establish what led to the killing and identify those responsible.

The motive for the murder had not been established by the time of reporting.

The body was removed and taken to the Bungoma Referral Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending an autopsy.

Detectives have commenced investigations into the killing and are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify the perpetrators.

And police in Kakamega are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified man whose decomposing body was found floating in River Isiukhu.

The body, believed to be that of an African male adult in his mid-30s, was spotted in the river on Saturday evening within Rosterman Sub-location, Shirere Location, in Kakamega Central Sub-County.

With the assistance of local divers and the Kakamega County Government rescue team, the officers managed to retrieve the decomposing body from the river.

Police processed and documented the scene before moving the body to the Kakamega County General Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending identification and a postmortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances under which he died and ended up in the river.
