DCI detectives on Monday arrested a man who has been defrauding Kenyans with the false promise of securing them jobs in Qatar.

Joseph Kipkoech Keino, 37, a resident of South B estate in Nairobi, will be charged with obtaining money through false pretense, the DCI has said.

The number of people seeking employment in Qatar has rapidly grown with most them getting stuck in the Arabic country for lack of travel documents and air tickets to return home after falling out with their employers.

In July a Kenyan woman, Marion Mary Machuma was apparently beaten to death by her employer, a GCC national, who later called the police saying that her African maid had fallen down the stairs.

Ms Muchuma was murdered for apparently asking her employer for her dues.
