Man dies after suffering severe cut while jumping over gate in Naivasha

A 30-year-old man died after suffering a severe injury while attempting to jump over a gate at a residential compound in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
The deceased, Johnson Mumo Musyoka, was reportedly returning from Kinungi Township with his friend on Monday, September 28, 2026.
According to police, the two arrived at the compound and opted to use a smaller gate. After Musyoka failed to open the padlock, he allegedly attempted to jump over the gate.
During the attempt, he sustained a deep cut to his left arm around the elbow and fell to the ground, bleeding heavily.
Neighbours responded and rushed him to hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers visited the scene and documented the incident. The deceased was found with a visible injury to his left elbow.
His body was moved to the Naivasha Sub-County Referral Hospital Mortuary pending post-mortem examination and further investigations.
And a 14-year-old Grade 7 pupil at Kianwe Primary School in Kirinyaga County died after sustaining an injury during a lunch break at the school.
The deceased died on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Ruai Family Hospital in Nairobi, where he had undergone surgery following the injury.
According to police, the child was initially reported to have been assaulted by a fellow pupil, a Grade 8 pupil at the same school.
His parents reported on September 24 that their son had suffered an injury to his wrist, which was suspected to have been dislocated.
He was first taken to Karatina Level 5 Hospital before being referred to Jamii Hospital for an X-ray examination.
Doctors at Karatina later advised the family to seek further treatment at Ruai Family Hospital in Nairobi.
Police subsequently visited the school to establish the circumstances surrounding the injury. The deputy principal told investigators that Moses had been having lunch with other pupils before joining them in playing during the break.
According to the school administration, child attempted to jump over another one during the play and fell, allegedly dislocating his wrist.
The class teacher reportedly informed the teacher on duty, who contacted the parents of both pupils and advised them to take him to hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the pupil’s death are now under investigation, with police treating the matter as a suspected murder incident pending further findings.
