    Man drowns in sewage trench along Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi

    A 37-year-old man drowned after falling into a sewage trench near Equity Bank along Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi.

    The incident was reported to Nairobi Railways Police Station.

    Police established that the deceased, identified as Isaac Kiplagat, had fallen into the trench and drowned.

    The body was subsequently moved to Nairobi Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

    Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.

    Elsewhere, police in Bungoma North, Bungoma County, have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was found floating in River Nzoia.

    The body was spotted on Friday, September 11, 2026, at about 7.30pm in Siumbua Village, Kabuyefwe Sub-location, approximately seven kilometres southeast of Mbakalo Police Station.

    According to a police report, the discovery was reported by the Assistant Chief of Kabuyefwe Sub-location.

    Officers from Mbakalo Police Station visited the scene and, with the assistance of members of the public, retrieved the body from the river.

    The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Naitiri Sub-County Mortuary for preservation, pending identification and autopsy.

    Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and have appealed for information that could help establish his identity.

    And police in Nyatike, Migori County, have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified middle-aged man was found floating in River Kuja.

    According to police the body was discovered in the Kituka area.

    Police officers and a team of DCI personnel from Macalder Police Station rushed to the scene and established that the body was that of an unidentified adult male.

    The body was retrieved from the river, after which the scene was documented as part of the investigations.

    The remains were moved to the Migori County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where they are being preserved pending an autopsy.

    Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and efforts to establish his identity are expected to follow.
