A 31-year-old man was electrocuted as he cleaned a house at a construction site in Kayole, Nairobi County.
Police said Eric Kioko was a casual labourer at the site at the time of the incident on Wednesday, January 21.
He was cleaning the terrazzo floor on the second floor, which was wet and had a live wire loosely connected to it when the incident happened.
His colleagues realized he had fallen and was immobile. It was then that they realized he had been electrocuted and dashed to switch off the power supply. It was however too late as he had died.
His body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.
Such incidents are common at construction sites amid calls for protection of workers by the contractors. The police said the incidents are under probe.
Elsewhere in Kibathi, Nyandarua County, the body of one Stephen Njenga, 46 was found hanging on a bridge after he had drowned in a waterlogged sewerage.
It is suspected that he could have been involved in a motorcycle accident at the bridge at night. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
And police arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of two people in Oyugis, Homa Bay County on November 6, 2025. The suspect had been on the run until January 21, 2026 when he was arrested.
He is also accused of injuring two police officers as they tried to arrest him after the murder then five days later.
He is accused of killing Bruno Onyango and Ben Odhiambo during the campaigns of a by-election for Kaspul. He is also accused of assault and resisting arrest, police said, adding he was arrested in Obisa village in the area following intelligence reports he was hiding there.
