Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a rented apartment in the Fisheries area of Bamburi, Mombasa.

According to the police, the incident was brought to the attention of authorities by the owner of the short stay room.

The caretaker alerted them after a client who had checked in the previous day on April 24 failed to check out at the agreed time.

The caretaker opened the room and discovered the lifeless body of a male adult lying on the bed.

Police visited the scene and confirmed the deceased was an unidentified Indian male adult. Preliminary findings indicate that the room had been booked the previous night by two men.

Upon examination, the body was found to have minor scratches on the right hand, with no other visible injuries.

The body was moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary, where it awaits postmortem examination and formal identification.

Investigators have since processed and documented the scene and are pursuing leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, including tracing the second individual who had checked in with the deceased.

Meanwhile, police in Kilifi County launched investigations into the murder of a bodaboda rider whose body was found in Watamu.

According to authorities at Watamu Police Station, the incident was reported on the morning of April 25, 2026 after members of the public discovered a lifeless body at the Watamu Market area.

Police who responded to the scene found the body of Jimmy Ngonyo Hinzano, also known as Kipara, a 30-year-old. He was a bodaboda rider based in Watamu and resided in the Dabasokidogobasi area.

Police said the deceased was found lying in a recovery position with a stab wound on the left side of the chest. His clothes were soaked in blood, while his mobile phone and slippers were recovered a few metres from the body.

A witness told police he heard people shouting he was a thief before the body was later discovered.

Investigators followed the trail and established that the victim was likely attacked at the location where the alarm was raised before attempting to move away.

Blood stains were found along the path leading to where he eventually collapsed and died.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Malindi documented the scene and collected exhibits, including the deceased’s mobile phone.

The body was moved to Malindi Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted.

Police say investigations have commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and to identify those responsible.
