A man has killed a Moi University medical student at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Ivy Wangechi, a sixth-year medicine student, was taking her industrial attachment at the facility.
According to eyewitness account, the unidentified man, hit the student – who was heading to her hostel – with a blunt object on the head severally.
Reports indicate the man had hidden the weapons in a gunny bag, to avoid suspicion when he accessed the hospital.
After the incident, the man attempted to flee but was attacked by angry members of public who attempted to lynch him.

Shortly after, the police arrived at the scene rescuing him.
The man, who is said to be an employee of a betting firm in Nairobi, is currently admitted at the hospital as police continue with investigations.
Following the incident, medical students held peaceful demonstrations.
Moi University Vice Chancellor Isaac Kosgey, confirmed the incident and said the institution is working closely with the police to investigate the incident.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be established.
