Man kidnapped and found murdered in Juja

A 63-year-old man was kidnapped from Gatanga, Muranga County before his body was found dumped in Juja area, Kiambu County.
Police said they were yet to establish the motive and those behind the kidnapping and murder of Bernard Kinuthia Karehu.
He was shot at close range in the chest below the right upper arm before his body was dumped in the Abbasalama area on the roadside.
Locals in Muranga had reported Karehu was kidnapped by unknown people on Sunday January 18 morning.
Police who visited the scene said the man’s t-shirt had blood stains and that the victim was dumped at the scene after his murder.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
No arrest had been made by Monday even as police said they were pursuing various leads into the same.
A team of detectives revisited the scene where the body was found and where he was picked from as part of the probe into the murder.
They talked to his relatives to establish if he had a grudge with anyone that may have led to the kidnap and murder.
Elsewhere in Kibwezi, Makueni County, police are investigating an incident where a 94-year-old woman was found dead and her body decomposed in her compound.
The incident happened in Kinyambu village and involved Susan Mailu who stayed there alone. Neighbours said they had not seen her for days and were disturbed by a foul smell from the compound.
They went to check and found the body decomposed and partially eaten up by dogs. It is not clear what caused the death and when, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.
The discovery was made on Sunday January 18, police said.
Police said they want to establish if the woman was murdered at the scene. Her relatives had left her to stay alone at the compound despite her age.
