A man went berserk and killed two people in a land dispute in Narok Amalo area, Narok County.

He was later lynched by an irate mob that responded to the scene on Tuesday evening, police said.

Among the people he hacked and killed before he was attacked by the mob was his brother and a village elder, police said of the incident that happened in the Kalyet area.

A group had gathered in the area to solve the land dispute when the assailant went berserk and fatally hacked the two.

The other members of the public present later pursued and killed him minutes later, police said.

The deceased also critically injured another man in the drama, police said adding the victim was admitted to hospital in a serious condition.

The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Police visited the scene as part of investigations into the murder.

Such murder incidents have been on the rise in the area amid efforts by various parties including village elders to solve them. The cases are being investigated by agencies.

Elsewhere in Oleshapan area of Narok south sub-county, a cattle herder fatally injured his employer’s son in a dispute.

The assailant used a club and panga to fatally injure the victim following a quarrel. He was later arrested and detained pending arraignment, police said.

And a 53-year-old man died in hospital after he had been attacked by his son in a land dispute in Nalondo, Bungoma County.

Police said Thadeus Wanyama Juma was attacked and seriously injured by his son in a quarrel over land. The son had on January 2 arrived home and demanded to sell a piece of their land and when the father objected to the same, he armed himself with an axe which he used in fatally attacking him.

He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed on January 6, police said.

The man had sustained head injuries. The assailant was arrested and was set to face murder charges, police said on Wednesday. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
