Man kills wife, two minors in bizarre incident in Nyeri

A man killed his wife and two minors in a bizarre incident in Kagayu village, Nyeri County.

The suspect was arrested after the bodies of the victims were found in his house on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established. Police said the children were aged six (boy) and two and a half (girl), while their mother was identified as Mary Nasoro, 30.

The boy was a pupil at a local school.

The bodies of the minors lay on the table with their neck slit. The bodies also had multiple stab wounds, police said.

That of their mother had been stabbed multiple times and hanged on a truss with a belt tied around her neck. She also had her throat slit. Police suspect the woman was tortured before being murdered.

The bodies were picked up to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.

The incident left the village in shock with locals demanding justice for the death.

Such murder incidents have been on the rise in separate places amid efforts to solve them, police said.

In Lowangula, Meru County, a member of the National Police Reserve was found dead in his house after a suspected murder by shooting.

He was identified as Lawrence Lorot Kolui who was attached to the Tigania command. His body was found lying on a mattress with gunshot wounds in the chest and shoulder.

The assailants stole his AK47 rifle with 90 bullets, 60 goats and three calves.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and hunt on the killers, police said.

Elsewhere in Sololo, Moyale, Marsabit County, a man who had been abducted by unknown people was found dead in a thicket.

The discovery of the body prompted a protest in the area on Sunday with locals blocking the main Moyale-Marsabit highway for hours. The protesters demanded justice for the murder of the man. Police said they had not made any arrest over the murder and vowed justice in the same.

The police had to use live bullets to disperse the group that had paralyzed operations on the busy highway.
