Man robbed of his gun in attack in Kayole, Nairobi

A man was attacked and robbed of pistol in Nairobi’s Kayole area.

The victim is a licensed firearm holder. He told police he was headed home in Kwa Mchanga area in Kayole when two men who had been trailing him attacked him on January 19, 2026.

The assailants hit him using fists in his jaw and tore his trouser before they grabbed the Sarsilmaz pistol that was loaded with 15 bullets.

The men escaped on foot after the attack. The victim reported the matter before police visited the scene and announced they are pursuing the attackers. Police said the men behind the attack were known and efforts to trace them were ongoing.

Police fear the suspects may use the weapon in committing crimes in the city or elsewhere.

There are more than 15,000 licensed firearms holders in the country. The holders go through a rigorous process before they are allowed to own the weapons.

Meanwhile, police in Kehancha recovered a pistol in an operation. This was after escaping gang dropped a sack on the roadside.

The police said they were on Sunday patrolling the area following a rise in crime when they met a gang on a motorcycle.

The gang sed off and later dropped a sack which was searched and later found to contain the pistol- a Retay with two bullets.

The weapon was taken for ballistic tests and analysis.

The area has been experiencing a rise in crime which has prompted police operations.

Police said they had enhanced operations in the area to address the menace.

And there was drama in Sengera, Manga, Nyamira County when police were called to rescue two employees of Mogo Credit Company.

The employees had gone to Morako village to recover a motorcycle for failing to pay a loan when a group of bodaboda riders attacked them.

Both the police and the workers were attacked and left with serious injuries in the Monday afternoon drama.

One of the officers said he lost four teeth in the drama.

The officers were also rescued alongside the employees and taken to a local hospital for medical attention.

Police said three suspects were arrested over the attack and will face assault charges.
