A 24-year-old man was shot and killed in mysterious circumstances in Musoli village, Kakamega County.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound in the chest and lying on a footpath in the Akatsa area, police said of the November 16, 2025, incident.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established.

Police who visited the scene identified him as Newton Wanjia. They said they suspect the man was killed elsewhere and the body was dumped at the scene. There was no blood stain at the scene where the body was discovered, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

Meanwhile, four people were arrested in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl in Borehole Five in Hagadera, Garissa County.

The body of the girl was found lying in a house after she had been murdered. She is believed to have been strangled using her headscarf, police said.

Police who attended the scene said she had blood oozing from her mouth.

Police were alerted of the murder and arrested the said assailant and three others who they argued tried to conceal the murder.

The three will face charges of accessory after the fact while the main suspect will face murder charges, police said.

The police said they are investigating if the girl was defiled before being killed on November 15, 2025.

The body was moved to a local mortuary pending an autopsy.

Such murder incidents have been reported in the area amid efforts to solve them.

Authorities have been discouraging a trend where families sit and solve such murder incidents and instead pushed for a judicial process. This is meant to make the locals know murder, rape and many other crimes are punishable.

Authorities blame culture for the incidents and have been carrying out civic education to address the menace.
