Man shot dead in attack in Tana River

A 65-year-old man was shot and killed in an attack at his house in Bura, Tana River County.
Police said Yussuf Lalafa Buya was shot on Wednesday, November 12 shot by men who had visited his house at dawn.
The motive of the fatal shooting was not immediately known. He was shot four times at close range and died on the spot.
The assailants had visited his house and called him. When he opened, they dragged him out and shot him at close range, police said.
The body was later picked up from the scene and taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Police said they are investigating the incident. The area has been experiencing fatal attacks by gunmen in incidents linked to land and cattle rustling issues.
Elsewhere in Kuresoi, Nakuru County, one Mogendi Momanyi, 31 died in hospital after an assault in a love triangle saga.
Police said an assailant had attacked the deceased on October 30, 2025 in the area over claims of having an affair with his wife. The deceased was taken to a local hospital in Nakuru where he succumbed to the injuries in November 11, police said.
Police said on Thursday they were looking for the assailant for murder charges.
And police and prisons officials are searching for a convict who escaped from the Eldama Ravine Prisons on November 12, 2025.
The convict identified as Stanley Koskey was serving eight years in prison for stealing and unlawful possession of another person’s identity card.
He was also having two other pending cases in Kericho law courts, police and prisons officials said.
He is said to have escaped on Wednesday during breakfast from prison compound, officials said.
A hunt on the convict was ongoing on Thursday.
