Man stabbed to death after birthday party in Kisumu

A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death after attending a birthday party at a bar in Chiga Market, Kisumu East, in the early hours of Sunday.
Police said Christopher Odhiambo Amonde had attended the birthday party with friends at Rio Bar and Restaurant in Chiga Centre before leaving at about 3:30am.
Amonde was about to board a motorcycle with his friend when he was allegedly stabbed in the chest by a man known to them.
He fell to the ground screaming in pain as the attacker fled.
His friends rushed him to Lisa Hospital in Rabuor, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers and DCI personnel who visited the scene and the hospital found that the deceased had suffered a stab wound on the left side of his chest that penetrated through to his back.
Investigators obtained information on the whereabouts of the suspected attacker and arrested 24-year-old a resident of Kasese area in Muhoroni Sub-County.
The scene was processed by Crime Scene Investigation officers from Kisumu, while the body was moved to the Kisumu County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are ongoing.
And a 35-year-old man was stabbed to death by suspected assailants while on his way home in Mulot, Narok County, early Sunday morning.
Police said Wesley Kiprono Terer was attacked at about 1:30am on August 9, 2026, in the Kutto village area within Mulot.
Terer was rushed to Longisa County Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.
His body was moved to the hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting autopsy as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The motive for the attack remains unknown, and no arrests had been reported by the time of filing this report.
Police have classified the case as murder and launched investigations to identify and apprehend the suspected attackers.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a 23-year-old woman in connection with the murder of Police Constable Justus Nyakundi in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday by detectives from the DCI Trans Nzoia West following further intelligence leads within Kitale town.
