Man stabs and kills ex-girlfriend in attack in Kilimani area

A man was arrested after he stabbed and killed his ex-girlfriend along Kirichwa Road, Kilimani, Nairobi.

Both the man and deceased woman worked for a money lending company located on Malik Heights along Ngong Road in the city.

The woman was aged 25 while the man is 22, police said. The incident happened Thursday May 14, 2026 evening as the woman and her friends walked towards Argwings Kodhek direction and from their place of work.

She had left their place of work oblivious of the plans by the man she once dated and had broken up with. He was jinxed.

According to her friends, she and the man had separated and she moved from his house in Kawangware area to her aunt’s in the area.

The man was not happy. It is not clear what caused the separation but the friends said their relationship was toxic.

Colleagues said the woman had resumed work on May 14 after being away for weeks. The assailant was also in office. He had come to work while armed with a knife, police said.

And after the day’s work, she and the colleagues left on foot. It was then that the assailant trailed her and stabbed her multiple times and slit her throat.

She tried to run to a nearby clinic for help but collapsed outside there and bled to death.

The assailant tried to escape the scene but was restrained by the public as police arrived to rescue him. He did not have any injury, said Kilimani police boss Patricia Yegon.

She said the suspect was taken to a hospital and found to fit and taken back to the cells.

“The blood stains he had were from the slain woman,” said Yegon.

She added the murder is linked to a toxic relationship and added the man would be taken to court for murder.

Yegon said the police were digging further to establish more information on the murder.

The body of the woman was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
