    Man stabs uncle to death for cohabiting with mother in Bomet

    Police are investigating an incident where a 29-year-old man stabbed his 32-year-old uncle to death after accusing him of cohabiting with his mother in Ndanai area, Sotik, Bomet County.

    Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga said the suspect ambushed his uncle, Gilbert Kiplangat Bett, stabbing him in the cheek and inflicting fatal injuries to the neck, leading to his death at the scene.

    Imbwaga said the suspect’s mother attempted to intervene and defuse the situation, but her efforts were unsuccessful as her son was reportedly enraged over his uncle’s alleged behaviour.

    The suspect escaped the scene as his uncle fell fatally. The body was moved to the mortuary after the January 27 incident, police said adding they were hunting for the suspect for grilling and possible arraignment for murder.

    In Oljororok, Nyandarua County, a suspect was arrested over the murder of his girlfriend in a village in Bureti, Kericho County.

    The murder incident happened on January 24 and affected one Judy Chepngeno, 28.

    Police said the suspect was moved to Bureti pending arraignment.

    In Olkalou area, Nyandarua County, a human leg was found floating on river Malewa in Munanda area. It was later established the leg belonged to a woman who had earlier on been murdered in the area.

    The leg was moved to the mortuary awaiting autopsy and further analysis. A suspect was arrested over the murder, police said.

    In Kilfi’s Kaloleni area, one Kahindi Kazungu, 65 was found strangled in his house.

    The motive of the murder was not immediately established, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary on Monday evening.

    The body had an injury on the right eye. Police say investigations in the area show such murder incidents are linked to land disputes.

    In Shimba Hills, Kwale County’s Mangawani area, one Nyamawi Mbovu, 45 was found dead after an attack in his house.

    His body lay in a pool of blood after he had been murdered. The motive of the murder was not known.

    Police said the body had a deep cut on the neck. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

    And a herder was shot and seriously wounded in a cattle rustling incident in Isiolo Town.

    The gang of bandits escaped with 306 shoats after the attack on January 26 in the evening, police said.

    The victim was shot in the hand and head and rushed to the hospital in a serious condition.

    A major operation was later mounted in the area in search for the stolen animals. The area is among those still under an operation to address cattle rustling menace.
