A 38-year-old man has been arrested after presenting himself at Kahawa West Police Station in Nairobi and confessing to killing his girlfriend.

The suspect, identified as Alex Ngugi Njeri, reportedly walked into the police station on October 14, at around 5:40pm and told officers that he had murdered Nellious Njeri on the morning of Monday, October 12.

According to a police report, the incident occurred at Ndunyu ya Chege Market, Muranga County where the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased with a knife.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confirmed that he had stabbed his girlfriend, prompting police to place him in custody.

The murder had earlier been reported at Ndunyu ya Chege Police Post on October 12.

The suspect was being held at Kahawa West Police Station as authorities awaited the collection of the case for further investigations.

Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing and pursue the case through the criminal justice system.

Njeri was discovered lying face down on a bed with multiple stab wounds on her back and the left side of her body below the armpit.

According to police, the incident was reported by members of the public on October 12, after they became concerned that a tenant in a locked rental house was not responding to calls.

The house had been secured with a padlock, prompting members of the public to raise the alarm after attempts to reach the occupant through a window failed.

The officers broke into the house and discovered Njeri’s body on the bed, with the stab wounds suggesting she had been attacked.
