Manchester United Reject Kobbie Mainoo’s Loan Request

Manchester United have reportedly turned down midfielder Kobbie Mainoo’s request for a loan move before the transfer window closes.
The 20-year-old, considered one of the brightest prospects from United’s academy, is said to be frustrated with limited game time. According to The Athletic, Mainoo expressed his concerns in a meeting on Thursday, stressing that while he loves the club and has no plans to leave permanently, his career is being stalled without regular minutes.
With the 2026 World Cup approaching, Mainoo is reportedly determined not to spend the season on the bench. However, United chiefs have made it clear that they see him as a key player for both the present and the future, insisting he must stay and fight for his place.
So far this season, Mainoo has been an unused substitute in United’s opening Premier League games — a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal and a 1-1 draw with Fulham. His only start came in the Carabao Cup, where United suffered a shock exit to League Two side Grimsby on penalties.
Clubs across Europe have shown interest in the youngster. Bayern Munich reportedly explored a possible move but did not follow through. Bayer Leverkusen, now managed by former United coach Erik ten Hag, were also keen but financial hurdles stood in the way. Spanish giants Real Madrid were linked as well, but their interest has since cooled.
