Former Attorney General, Githu Muigai and Interior CS, Fred Matiang’i have been summoned by the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission to record statements over their role in the controversial Ksh3.2 Billion Ruaraka land deal.

Githu is said to have already recorded his statement with regards to what legal advise he offered the Ministry of Education on acquisition of the Ruaraka High School and Drive-In Primary School. He insists that he could not determine or direct the decisions made by the independent entity afterwards, according to one of the dailies.

In a document submitted to EACC, his advise was that public acquisition for any land can only be done through the Lands Commission and land titles surrendered before payments are made. In this case, the ministry and Commission processed the payments without obtaining the title deed first and was charged at Sh100 million to Credit Continental Bank.

Already, National Land Commission officials Muhammad Swazuri and Abigail Mukolwe have appeared before EACC were requested to provide names of other officials under them to record statements.

This comes after Lands CS Farida Karoney confirmed to parliament committee that the Government did not follow due process when making payment for acquisition of Ruaraka land.
