MCA claims he was attacked by goons erecting a billboard in Nairobi

Nairobi West Member of County Assembly (MCA) Rex Omolleh claims he was attacked on Sunday dawn after confronting a group of people allegedly erecting billboards in his ward without authorisation.

According to Omolleh, he was travelling back to Nairobi from Mombasa when he spotted the individuals installing the structures.

He says he stopped to inquire about the activity, only for the group — described as “goons” — to turn on him.

The MCA alleges the men were working without approval from the Nairobi City County government and insists the installation was illegal.

He said the confrontation quickly escalated, resulting in the attack.

He was injured in the head.

The attackers escaped the scene.

Omolleh has condemned the incident and called for investigations into both the assault and the unauthorised billboard erection.

County authorities have not yet publicly commented on the matter.

Further details regarding injuries, arrests, or the identities of the individuals involved were not immediately available.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

This comes amid ongoing push and pull over the erection of the billboards in parts of Nairobi.

A section of leaders have been protesting the erection of the billboards. They want proper regulation of the sector.
