A Nairobi County Assembly representative is set to present a motion for the removal from office of Speaker Beatrice Elachi.
Antony Kiragu, Waithaka Ward Representative is seeking for the speaker’s impeachment over abuse of office and gross misconduct.
According to the MCA, Elachi’s recent actions have caused the assembly “great embarrassment and brought the Office of the Speaker into disrepute, contrary to the gamut of laws on conduct of state officers of her caliber.”
This comes after the former nominated senator accused the Office of the Clerk of financial malpractices including illegal procurement of goods. She later called in the DCI to look into the claims which the clerk, Jacob Ngwele has denied.

Ngwele on his part says that the speaker has interest in the Sh.150 million tender for the acquisition of the speaker’s residence.
The two are said to have had a bitter exchange on Thursday. The clerk then called journalists to his office where he told them that Ms Elachi and himself disagreed on who to purchase the residence from.
“Our fights are purely grounded on a failed business scheme. She is now trying to find ways to fight back with the belief that having me out will help her,” he said.
