McKenzie Forbes is an American professional basketball player born on June 23, 2000, in Beverly Hills, California.
She has made a name for herself in the world of women’s basketball, transitioning from a standout collegiate career to the professional stage.
A product of Folsom High School in Folsom, California, Forbes comes from a family deeply rooted in basketball, with her father, Sterling Forbes Jr., having played professionally for the Harlem Globetrotters and in Argentina, and her grandfather, Sterling Forbes Sr., an All-American at Pepperdine who was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 1960.
Beyond her athletic prowess, Forbes is pursuing a master’s degree in entrepreneurship and innovation at USC, showcasing her drive both on and off the court.
Siblings
McKenzie is one of four siblings, all of whom grew up immersed in basketball, fostering a competitive yet supportive family dynamic.
She has three brothers, Mason, Marcus, and Max Forbes.
Mason Forbes, the most well-documented of her siblings, is 16 months older than McKenzie and played college basketball at Harvard from 2019 to 2022.
Standing at 6’8”, Mason was a forward for the Harvard Crimson men’s basketball team, where he served as a key reserve player during his first two years before an injury and the COVID-19 pandemic affected his later seasons.
Like McKenzie, Mason attended Folsom High School, where he was a four-year varsity member, three-year starter, and two-year captain.
Less is publicly known about Marcus and Max, the two older Forbes brothers, but they too played basketball growing up.
Career
Forbes began at the University of California, Berkeley, playing her freshman year (2018-19) for the Golden Bears, where she earned All-Pac-12 Freshman Honorable Mention honors.
After her coach Lindsay Gottlieb left for the NBA, Forbes entered the transfer portal and landed at Harvard.

With her NCAA eligibility exhausted at Harvard, Forbes transferred to USC for the 2023-24 season as a graduate student.
There, she started all 35 games, averaging 14.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, helping lead the Trojans to success. Her college career totals include 124 games, 11.7 points per game, and 293 assists.
In April 2024, Forbes was drafted in the third round (28th overall) by the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA Draft.
She then joined the Waverley Falcons in Australia’s NBL1 South, leading them to a championship in 2024, and briefly played for Mainland Pouaki in New Zealand’s Tauihi League, where she set a single-game scoring record of 39 points.
