Mechanic dies after vehicle falls on him in Dagoretti

A 22-year-old mechanic died after a vehicle he was repairing reportedly fell on him in Dagoretti Corner, Nairobi.
Police said Philip King’ori was working on a Leyland Ashok vehicle at a garage when a hydraulic jack reportedly slipped, causing the vehicle to fall and hit him on the head.
The incident was reported on Monday, September 21, 2026, at around 5 pm.
According to police, King’ori was immediately rushed to Melchizedek Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police visited the scene and found the deceased’s body lying on a hospital bed, with visible injuries on the left side of his head.
Scenes of Crime personnel processed and documented the scene.
The body was subsequently moved to the City Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
Police described the incident as an accident.
Elsewhere, a 57-year-old plumber died after accidentally falling into a borehole while attempting to repair a submerged water pump at a homestead in Gatundu North, Kiambu County.
According to the police, Henry Maina Chege was reportedly called at around 10am on Monday, September 21, 2026, to repair the water pump at the homestead in Makwa area.
Police said Chege was working on the submerged pump when he accidentally fell into the borehole, which is estimated to be about 100 meters deep.
His assistant, identified as James Kigeo, raised the alarm and members of the public responded to the scene.
The rescuers managed to retrieve Chege from the borehole but found that he had already died.
The deceased’s body was subsequently removed and taken to Bishop Okoe Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was lynched and set on fire by an angry mob in Shomela, Kilifi County, after he allegedly threatened a resident with a machete.
Martin Kahindi Katana was attacked by members of the public on Monday, September 21, 2026, following an alleged confrontation involving a panga.
Police officers rushed to the scene after receiving reports that a man was being subjected to mob justice.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Katana had allegedly threatened to kill a resident of Mzee wa Zaidi, while armed with a panga.
An angry crowd reportedly descended on Katana, lynched him and set him on fire. He succumbed to the injuries at the scene.
The family told police that the son had been mentally disturbed and was known to be violent, describing him as a threat.
Police recovered a panga at the scene as investigations into the incident continue.
The deceased’s body was moved to Malindi Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
