Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Expand Production Slate with New Streaming Projects

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry new movies

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are preparing to roll out a new wave of film and television projects through their production company, Archewell Productions, as they deepen their presence in the global streaming space.

According to sources, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are developing a mix of scripted and non-fiction content, with several projects already in different stages of production. Insiders say the company is building a diverse slate that will span multiple streaming platforms over the coming years.

“There is a mix of both fiction and non-fiction projects on the slate,” a source told People Magazine, noting that while some ideas may not move forward, Archewell Productions is expected to deliver a steady stream of programming.

The update comes shortly after it was announced on March 23 that Archewell has partnered with Netflix on a new scripted series centered on the world of polo — a sport closely associated with Prince Harry.

In addition, the company is working on several high-profile adaptations. These include a screen version of The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory, as well as Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune, which now has a director attached.

The Sussexes’ production deal with Netflix evolved last year into a multi-year, first-look agreement covering both film and television projects, signaling continued collaboration between the two sides.

Recent reports had suggested possible tensions between the couple and the streaming giant. Claims surfaced that Netflix was caught off guard by the couple’s high-profile 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, as well as the release of Prince Harry’s 2023 memoir, Spare, which offered personal insights into his royal upbringing.

However, Netflix leadership has dismissed speculation of a rift. The company’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria urged caution over such claims, saying: “Don’t believe whatever you read.”
