Millicent Omanga Clarifies Govt Appointment
Former nominated Senator and businesswoman Millicent Omanga has addressed reports linking her to a fresh government appointment.
The reports followed the publication of a Gazette Notice dated September 18, 2026, which listed a person named Millicent Kerubo Omanga among members appointed to the Board of Visitors of Shikusa Borstal Institution.
According to the Gazette Notice, Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen appointed 10 members to the board for a three-year term, effective August 14, 2026.
The appointed members include Simon Barasa Muhindi, Masimbakosi Kusille Chimwani, Canon Mudy J. Peter, Moses Juma Pata, Peter Salik Kalwale, Peter Mwombe Juma, Sylvia Kwamboka Morwabe, Millicent Kerubo Omanga, Dr Margaret Nasimiyu Mwonyonyo and Margaret Nanzala Wambia.
However, Omanga has clarified that Millicent Kerubo Omanga is not her official name, distancing herself from the appointment.
The former senator, who is seeking the Nairobi Woman Representative seat on the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) ticket, urged Kenyans not to link her to the appointment or spread what she described as propaganda.
“Kwa majina yangu kamili ni Millicent NYABOKE Omanga ….. wale wa porojo poleni,” Omanga stated.
Her clarification comes amid political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Omanga positioning herself for the Nairobi Woman Representative race.
In 2024, Omanga declined an appointment by President William Ruto to serve on the Nairobi Rivers Commission.
