Minor dies after falling from sixth floor of apartment in Eastleigh

A three-year-old boy died after he fell from the sixth floor of their apartment in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area.

The child was playing with his friends when he fell off to the ground floor and died instantly. This was after he landed on his head. Police said he was confirmed dead on arrival at a local hospital on Sunday April 5 evening.

The incident left his family devastated.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

Such incidents have been on the rise amid calls on developers of residential houses to ensure safety of their tenants.

Most children slip off the balconies of their houses and fall to their deaths in devastating incidents, police said.

Elsewhere in Kanjeria, Kiambu County, a man died after being trapped by a falling tree.

The victim was among a group that was felling a tree and had been hired for the work when the incident happened on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Police said Peter Kahuro, 46 died on the spot after being trapped by the tree. His colleague was using a power saw to cut the tree when it suddenly fell off and trapped him fatally.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures, police said as they added they were investigating the tragedy.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the drowning of a woman whose body was found on the banks of River Chania in Thika Town.

The river is swollen due to rains being experienced and it is believed the body was swept downstream to the area.

Police were called to the scene and moved the body of the middle-aged woman to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

More than 115 people have been killed in rain related incidents in the country in the past two months. Police said hundreds others were displaced by the rains amid warnings of more flooding in the coming days.
