Missing man’s body found decomposed in tea plantation in Keroka

Police are investigating murder after the body of a man who was missing was found in a tea plantation in Embaro village, Keroka, Nyamira County.

The body was decomposed at the time it was discovered on January 10, police said. Police suspect John Kiega Nyamote, 28 was murdered and dumped in the area. The motive of the murder was not known and his family said they saw him last on January 4.

Police said some tissues were missing due to the decomposition of the body as it was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

No arrest had been made by Sunday as police continued with investigations into the murder of the man.

In Muungano area, Machakos County, a special team of detectives was dispatched to pursue a gang of three that gang raped a mother and defiled her 12-year-old daughter in a robbery incident.

The gang had gained entry into the compound in the Myland area when they turned violent and tied the husband’s hands and legs.

They then turned on the woman aged 45 and her 12-year-old girl attacking them mercilessly. Police said they were sexually abused and later taken to the hospital and admitted in a stable condition.

The gang stole the victims’ mobile phones and Sh2,500.

Police said they are hunting for the gang. Such incidents have been on the rise in the area amid calls for action to arrest those behind them.

In Nyando, Kisumu County, a man died after being assaulted on the roadside. Police said Zacharia Orera, 51 succumbed to the injuries in his house and the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and hunting on the suspects in the incident.

In Mandera Town, one Zakaria Muktar Hassan, 30 died after being assaulted at a joint. Police said the body had injuries in the neck, thorax, and hands. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and hunt on the assailants.
