More than 1,000 police officers deployed to Safari Rally session in Naivasha

Comprehensive security, traffic management and public safety measures have been put in place ahead of the Safari Rally Kenya scheduled to take place from March 12 to March 15, 2026 in Naivasha and surrounding areas.

The Government, through the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, has activated a multi-agency coordination framework aimed at ensuring the safety and security of rally drivers, teams, spectators and residents during the globally renowned event on the World Rally Championship calendar.

Multi-Agency Security Deployment

The security arrangement brings together several government institutions including the National Police Service, National Transport and Safety Authority, Kenya National Highways Authority, and National Government Administration Officers.

The agencies are working closely with county authorities and rally organizers to facilitate smooth operations throughout the event period.

More than 1,000 police officers drawn from various formations will be deployed across rally routes, spectator zones and key access roads to maintain security, manage crowds and support traffic control operations.

Traffic Diversions and Alternative Routes

Authorities have warned motorists to expect temporary traffic management measures and road diversions along designated rally routes and surrounding access corridors during the competition period.

Motorists travelling along the Nairobi–Naivasha Highway without business in Naivasha are encouraged to use alternative routes to ease congestion.

The recommended alternatives include:
• Nairobi – Limuru – Flyover – Njabini – Ol Kalou – Ndondori – Lanet – Nakuru route
• Nairobi – Mai Mahiu – Narok – Nakuru – Western Kenya route

Safety Advisory to Spectators

Spectators attending the rally have been urged to observe the competition only from designated spectator zones, follow safety instructions issued by security officers and event marshals, and avoid accessing restricted rally tracks or operational areas.

The government has called on rally fans, residents and visitors to cooperate with security personnel, adhere to traffic guidelines and observe safety instructions to ensure the successful and safe hosting of Safari Rally Kenya.

The Safari Rally remains one of the most iconic and challenging events on the World Rally Championship circuit and attracts thousands of local and international fans to Naivasha every year.
