Three more witnesses testified Thursday at the Milimani High Court in the ongoing murder trial of John Matara Ong’oa, who is accused of brutally murdering 24-year-old socialite Starlet Wahu on the night of January 3, 2024, at Papino Apartments in South B, Nairobi.

Police Constable Allan Njoka, a crime scene investigator specializing in documentation and scene analysis, took the stand first.

He presented a crime scene report dated July 29, 2024, supported by 21 photographs he captured on January 4, 2024, at around 2:00 a.m.

Njoka detailed his photographic documentation and emphasised that there was no evidence of scene tampering, and the photos accurately depicted the crime scene.

Dr. Peter Ndegwa, a now-retired government pathologist, testified that he conducted the postmortem on Starlet’s body on January 5, 2024, at the City Mortuary, after identification by her family. His report described injuries including ten fingernail markings on the front of the neck, stab wound on the right thigh, internal bleeding on the right side of the head, and an overall pale body, signs of excessive blood loss.

Dr. Ndegwa concluded that the cause of death was severe hemorrhage due to single stab wound and strangulation-related trauma.

The final witness of the day, a cashier at South B Hospital, recalled receiving a male emergency patient bleeding from the arms and legs, with a blood-soaked white towel wrapped around one leg.
The patient, she told the court, gave his name as Fredrick Opondo and his age as 36.

The patient was subsequently referred to Mbagathi Hospital for further treatment.

Following the testimonies, the Prosecution, appearing before Justice Alexander Muteti, applied to amend the Murder Information to include the accused’s alias.

The Prosecution team, led by Della Wilbey, Sarah Ogweno, and Peris Maina, requested an adjournment, informing the court that only five witnesses remain.

The hearing was adjourned to November 27, 2025, when the remaining witnesses are expected to testify.
