MP Ng’eno among six killed in Nandi chopper crash

Emurua Dikir Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno is among six people who died after a helicopter crashed in Chepkiep, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County.

The lawmaker and his aides are said to have been on board the aircraft at the time of the crash. It happened at about 4 pm on Saturday February 28, 2026.

The helicopter is reported to have attempted an emergency landing before bursting into flames.

This is after the pilot ran into a mist that was being experienced in the area then.

Emergency response teams rushed to the scene as investigations begin, police said.

Senator Samson Cherargei and Tinderet MPJulius Melly arrived at the site, accompanied by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Police are expected to move the bodies which were badly burned to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue as part of ongoing procedures.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.

The chopper had left Nairobi for the area with a pilot and picked up unidentified people who he was to drop in the capital when it crashed.

A mobile phone belonging to the MP were among the items recovered at the scene of chopper crash.

The other victims included a pilot and his four aides.

The others were George Were (pilot), Amos Kipngetich Rotich- Forester and body guard to the MP and Nick Koskey who was the cameraman.

Two other unidentified bodies are burnt beyond recognition.

Parliament was yet to issue a statement by 8pm.
