Police in Embu are investigating an incident of alleged harassment and disruption at Siakago Girls High School after a group led by Leonard Muriuki Njeru Wamuthende reportedly stormed the institution demanding the transfer of the principal.

According to the police, the incident happened on Friday at around 11am at the school located in Nthawa Location, Mbeere North Sub-County.

The matter was reported by the school officials who told police that a group of about 40 people arrived at the school compound uninvited.

The group allegedly included the area MP Leonard “Wamuthende” Muriuki Njeru, CDF manager Eric Konji and members of the public.

The group reportedly demanded to see the principal, who was absent from the school at the time, and called for her transfer over claims of poor performance.

Police said the group allegedly harassed members of staff and locked access to key administrative offices, including the principal’s office, deputy principal’s office, bursar’s office, accounts office, boardroom and secretary’s office.

Police officers from the police station and detectives from the DCI who responded to the scene found the corridor housing the offices chained and padlocked with a notice reading: “Closed until further notice.”

No injuries or destruction were reported during the incident, police said, adding that investigations are ongoing.

Police said they are investigating the incident and were looking for the MP and his group for questioning. There was no immediate comment from the MP and the mentioned people.
