Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has appointed new selection panels to oversee the recruitment of board members for several government agencies.

In a gazette notice dated January 16, 2026, Mudavadi said the move is aimed at strengthening leadership and governance in key institutions.

He appointed Florence M’Mogi Olubayo as the chairperson of the Selection Panel for the recruitment of the Board of the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI). The panel members are Daniel Oliech, George Nyakundi, Dr Stephen Ikikii, Wairimu Njage, Dr Evans A. Mukoye and Prof Benedict Mutua. Mudavadi said the panel will be dissolved after the board members are appointed, and revoked an earlier gazette notice on the same matter.

At the same time, Prof Amina Abubakar was named chairperson of the Selection Panel for the recruitment of the Board of Trustees of the National Research Fund (NRF). The panel includes Caroline Kiget, Seth Nyamweya Masese, Jona Wala, Jane Mwangi, Prof Mary Gikungu and James Kahind. The panel will also be dissolved after the appointments are made.

Mudavadi also appointed Shukri Baramadi as chairperson of the Selection Panel for the recruitment of the Board of Trustees of the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA). Members of this panel are Sally Tanui, Janet Kung’u, Michael Kagika, Dr Ehud Gachugu, Dr James Mwaluma and Prof Peninah Aloo-Oluoch.

All the appointments take effect from January 16, 2026, and each panel will be dissolved once the recruitment exercise is completed.
