Former Meru Governor Munya Reinstated As PNU Leader Days After Joining Jubilee

Peter Munya, former Meru Governor has been restored as the Party of National Unity (PNU) leader days after rejoining President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party.

The former county boss had made an abrupt move to NASA coalition and vowing to throw his weight behind Raila Odinga’s election bid.

Munya then made a complete about turn eight days later after meeting with the President at the State House.

In a letter, Munya said that after consultations, it was better for its members to support Kenyatta.

“The list of party officials of the Party of National Unity as contained in Gazette Notice No. 8315 of 2017 is cancelled,” Registrar of Political Parties said in a notice on Friday.

An earlier notice had indicated that he was not party leader. The position as it were was still being held by President Mwai Kibaki.
