Murkomen Appoints Five Analysts Under Narcotic Drugs Control Law

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has appointed five analysts under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act.

The appointments were made through a Gazette Notice dated September 4, 2026.

Those appointed are Betsy Chelangat Kimeu, Peter Wambua Kimeu, Susan Mwake Mwatela, Everlyn Akinyi Onyango and Victor Wandera Opondo.

The five will serve as analysts under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, which provides the legal framework for regulating and controlling narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in Kenya.

The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act (Cap. 245) is the primary legislation governing narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and the cultivation of certain plants in Kenya.

The law seeks to control the possession, trafficking and production of illegal drugs.

It also provides for the forfeiture of property derived from or used in illicit drug trafficking.
