Nakumatt Junction Closed Despite Complying With Agreement
According to a public notice issued on Sunday, the retailer chain had given up its rights to the premises in accordance to a surrender dated September 15, 2017.
“The premises will be closed to the public from October 1, 2017 and no trading will be permitted at the premises,” read the notice.

However, Nakumatt has written a letter to the owners of Junction Mall over access to the branch.
They have accused the landlord of acting in bad faith cautioning owners that any further delays would result in legal action.
“We have, in the above circumstances, demanded that Junction Mall immediately provide us with continued access to our premises to enable us to continue to trade and to desist from the predatory behavior,” reads the statement by Nakumatt.
“As this has not happened as at the time of issuing this statement, we are taking urgent action to protect our legal and constitutional rights.”
Nakumatt added that the move to close the branch was a breach of the current leasing arrangements and that the public notice was misleading.
In their statement they issued a demand to the owners of Junction Mall telling them to immediately provide them with continued access to the premises.
The retail chain has been working hard to settle large debts estimated to be Sh15 billion as reported in February 2015.
