Nakumatt Holdings, Human Resource Officer Francis Kamotho has issued a Memo suspending over 30 workers over what he termed as ‘participation in an illegal industrial action.’

The workers were asked to show cause as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for participating in an illegal strike. The HR said that if the said employees do not respond within the stipulated time it would be assumed that there was no explanation.

Disciplinary action would include summary dismissal. The said employees were told to avoid visiting Nakumatt stores till the end of the month where they are expected to report to their branch managers.

Earlier this month the workers had downed their tools creating a stalemate at the National retailer over unpaid salaries .

Nakumatt had agree to pay the salaries in three installments of 30, 40 and 30 percent through a memo.
