NaMATA announces senior job vacancies; here’s how to apply

The Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (NaMATA) has announced several senior job vacancies as it seeks to strengthen its management team.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the authority invited applications for 10 positions across various departments.

The vacancies are Deputy Director, Infrastructure Development; Deputy Director, Network Management; Deputy Director, Corporate Policy, Research and Strategy; Deputy Director, Legal Services; Assistant Director, Infrastructure Development; Assistant Director, Network Management; Assistant Director, Legal Services; Assistant Director, Human Resource and Administration; and Assistant Director, Supply Chain Management.

NaMATA said the salary and other benefits attached to the positions will be determined by the Board, guided by the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC) and in consultation with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Successful candidates will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

They will also be required to obtain and submit valid clearance certificates from the relevant institutions upon receiving an offer of appointment.

These include an Individual Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), a clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), a Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and a clearance certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

NaMATA has directed interested applicants to visit its website, www.namata.go.ke, for detailed job profiles, specifications and general information about the authority.

Applicants who meet the requirements should submit their applications to reach NaMATA by September 15, 2026, at 12 noon.

Applications should include an updated curriculum vitae containing daytime contact details, current and expected salary, notice period required to take up the appointment, and the names and contacts of three referees.

Applicants should also attach copies of their academic and professional certificates, testimonials and national identity card or passport.

NaMATA is a State Corporation established under the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Order, 2017 (Legal Notice No. 18 of 2017).

The authority covers the five counties that make up the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, namely Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos, Murang’a and Kiambu.

Its mandate includes planning, regulating and coordinating the provision of an adequate and effective Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area.

NaMATA said the recruitment is part of its efforts to strengthen its capacity to deliver its mandate and improve mass transport services across the metropolitan region.
