nasaNational Super Alliance (NASA) will on Friday resume their demonstrations in Nairobi.

The coalition, through Lawyer Edwin Sifuna has written to Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome notifying him of the peaceful protests meant to push for electoral reforms.

“Our clients intend to hold peaceful processions/ demonstrations on Friday November 10, 2017 within Nairobi County as part of its quest for electoral justice and an end to electoral impunity in Kenya.”

“You are hereby notified of the same and requested to provide security during the said procession/ demonstration to ensure criminal elements do not take advantage to harm protesters, the public or any property,” the notice reads.

The opposition writes to the police in a bid to get them to offer security.

“Your cooperation towards making the peaceful demonstration a success, in line with your responsibilities under the law, will be highly appreciated.”

The coalition has through its principal, Raila Odinga called for fresh elections to be held within 90 days specifically on February, 9, 2018.

Odinga before leaving the country for political activities in the US told Reuters that a six-month interim government was the only way to end the political stalemate and facilitate free, fair and credible election.

”We need an interim arrangement of governance involving representatives of both parties and six months will be required to carry out all these changes that we need in our country in order to have a proper, free and fair election.”

The opposition has however not disclosed the routes they intend to use during the ‘electoral reforms’ protests.
