New CEOs appointed at KETRACO, GDC and EPRA
Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi approved the appointment of new chief executive officers for three key institutions in Kenya’s energy sector.
The appointments, which take effect immediately, Wandayi said in a statement on September 30.
For instance Tom Odhiambo Imbo was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) while Stephen Kipsang Busieney — Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Geothermal Development Company (GDC).
Wandayi said Eng. Edward Mwirigi Kinyua will be the Director General, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).
According to the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, the appointments were made under the State Corporations Act, the Companies Act, and the Energy Act.
The ministry said the appointments followed recruitment processes undertaken by the respective boards of directors of KETRACO, GDC and EPRA in accordance with applicable laws and human resource guidelines.
Wandayi congratulated the three appointees and said their leadership would support President William Ruto’s plans for the energy and petroleum sector.
The new appointments come as the government continues to implement programmes focused on electricity transmission, geothermal development and regulation of Kenya’s energy and petroleum industries.
