Ngirici removed as Kenya Seed Company chair after ditching UDA

Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici removed as Director and Chairperson of the Board of Kenya Seed Company Limited, a day after she publicly ditched the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
She is seeking to be the governor for Kirinyaga County.
In a letter dated April 30, 2026, National Treasury CS John Mbadi directed the immediate removal of Ngirici from the board.
“Article 97 of the establishing instrument provides the procedure for removal of a Director, while Article 98 empowers the Company or sponsor to replace and/or remove a Director,” read part of the letter addressed to Managing Director Sammy K. Chepsiror.
“In line with the above provisions in the Articles of Association, you are hereby advised to process the immediate removal of Ms Purity Wangui Ngirici as Director and Chairman of the Board as appointed under Article 102 of the Articles of Association.”
The letter, signed by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, cited provisions within the company’s Articles of Association outlining the appointment and removal of directors.
Although the letter did not specify the reason for her removal, the CS instructed that the changes be effected immediately, indicating that further guidance would be provided in due course.
On Wednesday, Ngirici publicly declared her political shift, announcing that she had left the President William Ruto-led party to support the Opposition outfit.
This comes amid heightened political activities in Mt Kenya region.
