The NHIF CEO Geoffrey Mwangi and the finance director failed to take plea at the Milimani Law Courts. The two represented by Senior Counsel Tom Ojienda said that the charges against them were defective, ambiguous and open ended.

The said that they were not subjects of the court order that was issued against the parastatal to supply documentation to show the alleged financial misappropriation  on the digital payment platform.

The prosecution said that the two were served but failed to provide the said documents.

Mwangi said that he was willing to supply the investigators with the said documents as long as he was told which specific books he was to provide.

The defense lawyers said that the prosecution needed to prove that the accused persons had been served with the court orders to supply the said books.

Ojienda said that his clients had not refused to  give any document and said that the charges would be detrimental to both Mwangi and Kurgat.

The two will spend the night at the Muthaiga police station as they await plea taking tomorrow.
